Makes and Models – Part Two
Baldwin
These piggies are born with a full coat of hair on their bodies and face but it sheds as the pig grows, until they are left with a little hair on their feet and nose. We haven’t had the pleasure of meeting a Baldwin yet, but may do in the future 🙂 You can see some examples of Baldwin piggies here.
Crested
These are short haired, smooth guinea pigs in a variety of colours with a swirl of hair, also known as a crest, on their forehead. If the crest is white and the rest of the body is all one colour, then it’s known as a white crested piggy, if their crest is the same colour as the rest of their body, then they are known as crested guinea pigs.
Coronet
These piggies have long hair, falling backwards, with a swirl of hair on their forehead – making them a long haired version of a crested guinea pig. They come in a variety of colours and do need lots of brushing.
